Building Our Skills is delighted to announce the formation of a partnership with Sheffield City Council, one of the largest authorities in the UK to put school leavers and people who are unemployed or seeking a career change together with the region’s employers from the fenestration industry.
Speaking about the partnership Head of Building Our Skills Stephanie Tague commented “this collaboration is a major triumph for us. We are opening up dialogue with careers advisors in the city, outreach workers and other programme managers, all of whom have access to young people looking to make their way into industry through the region’s employers”.
“This is what we were set up to do – find young people, excite them about the fenestration industry, and engage with employers in the region to complete the circle”.
“It is the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate tangible achievements in our quest to increase the number of young people coming into our industry, and if it works in Sheffield, we know we have a transferable model to take elsewhere”.
“The input from the team at Sheffield has been remarkable with 15 of their careers advisors now directly engaged with us. We want to do everything we can to make this work”.
“The partnership we have developed means we can try to engage new entrants to the industry and find employment opportunities for them; they can access apprenticeships, attend formal accredited training, or simply commence employment in any one of the 80 plus roles we have identified in the industry”.
“I would encourage as many employers as possible from the region to get in touch with us so we can give them a full overview of the partnership and how they can get involved and potentially benefit”.
